Pet Related Emergencies:

ASPCA Poison Control Center - (888) 426-4435.  As the premier animal-oriented poison control center in North America, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center is the best resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Make the call that can make all the difference: (888) 426-4435. A $55 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card.

K-State Animal Poison Control Hotline - (785) 532-5679.  K-State's College of Veterinary Medicine has a free, 24-hour animal poison control hotline that puts worried pet owners and other veterinarians in touch with three K-State veterinary toxicologists.

The Animal Emergency Clinic, (816) 455-5430, 8141 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.Open evenings, weekends and holidays when most veterinarians' offices aren't. 

The Lost Dog Registry - (816) 333-0020, 222 W Gregory Boulevard, # 207, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.  Maintains records regarding lost and found dogs. 

KC Pet Connect - helping lost pets find home in the Kansas City and surrounding areas.

Northland Pet Pantry The mission of the Northland Pet Pantry is to provide free food and basic supplies for the companion pets of people who are struggling financially.  Our vision is to keep loved companion animals from becoming homeless. 


Local Resources:

The Dogs' Spot Dog Training Center.  The community spot for dogs and the people who love them.  Offering the latest information in reward-based training and behavior, the Dogs’ Spot is a great community resource!

Kathy's Klippery.  Holistic mobile pet groomer and stylist.  Have your pet groomed in your own driveway in Kathy's state-of-the-art mobile grooming van.

Northland Animal Welfare Society.  NAWS’ mission is to build an Animal Care Campus to aid animals in Clay and Platte Counties in Missouri.  In addition to providing sanctuary for homeless animals, the Campus will serve as an educational resource and a means to improve animal welfare in our community.

 

Northland Pet Pantry The mission of the Northland Pet Pantry is to provide free food and basic supplies for the companion pets of people who are struggling financially.  Our vision is to keep loved companion animals from becoming homeless.  


Independence Disaster Animal Response Team Independence DART Members learn how to prepare their families, help their community be better prepared, and rescue and shelter animals when a disaster or crisis happens in their community.  Based in Independence, Missouri, the Independence DART trains members who are interested in ensuring that animals are taken into account in future disaster planning as mandated by the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS Act). 


Northland Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) Serving Clay and Platte Counties, the Northland DART helps community members be better prepared to care for their own animals in the event of a disaster, and is fully trained to assist in rescuing and sheltering pets in the event of a disaster in the Northland. 

No More Homeless Pets Kansas City is a coalition of veterinarians, humane societies, municipal shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter groups, and individuals who are working toward a time when there will be No More Homeless Pets Kansas City.  Exciting news!  No More Homeless Pets KC and Animal Haven have recently merged!  According to their website, "The new organization, Heartland SPCA, is the first full circle-solution for residents in the Kansas City area."

Spay & Neuter Kansas City.  A non-profit formed to promote spaying and neutering as a primary means of decreasing pet-overpopulation. 

Rolling Acres Memorial Gardens for Pets Rolling Acres offer cemetery, crematorium and mortuary services to pets, and virtually every service that is commonly provided for humans. They also sponsor a free Pet Grief Recovery Group open to anyone grieving or trying to prepare for the death of an animal companion. The Group meets at Rolling Acres Memorial Gardens for Pets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 pm. Pet Grief Support Group.  For those mourning the loss of a pet, preparing for the loss of a pet or who would like to help someone grieving the loss of a pet, there is a Pet Grief Support Group that meets on the first & third Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. in the Heritage Room of the Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th Street, Kansas City, MO. The Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation protects animals from abuse, neglect and exploitation by monitoring and facilitating the passage of animal welfare laws, thereby enhancing the quality of life for people and animals in Missouri.

Kansas City Dog Advocates is a community of concerned dog owners (of all breeds, mixed breeds, and rescue) that band together to give dogs a voice in our local communities through educational outreach initiatives and promoting responsible dog ownership.

The N2Paws mission is to improve the bond between people and animals, while improving the well-being of both.  N2Paws presents a variety of techniques to help enhance the well being of your pet. These techniques are complimentary to veterinary care and other training methods for your companion animal.

Metro Pet Magazine.  A great magazine for pet lovers in the Kansas City area.
